![]() It's such a subjective answer.īut I can tell you which of the bunch is my favourite. I'll be honest, I don't know which Black Library book is the best. But I'm a Guard fanboy at heart and GG is no small part of why.Īssume you mean the Twice Dead King here or else I need to catch up on my Necron stuff. I've read all of Eisenhorn and Ravenor, the Ultramarines omnibuses, Night Lords, The Infinite and the Divine, and both the Twice-Dead King novels. I still hold a candle for ADB but Abnett proves why he's arguably the GOAT Black Library author with this fucking book right here.Īgain, I'm still fairly new to the Black Library and the deeper 40k lore in general. Everything from the characterization of all the various side characters to the soul-dousing sense of dread and loss to the eventual bittersweet elation of triumph at a terrible cost to the downright beautiful epilogue from Thuro. Part of me is hesitant to keep going on the Ghosts because I don't know if any of the subsequent books will be able to match up to this one.
